The International Sustainability Standards Board – ISSB was launched on November 2021 by the IFRS Foundation. It was established in order to set the standards to provide “high quality, transparent, reliable and comparable reporting by companies on climate and other environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters“.

The standards developed are aimed to serve as a baseline that provide investors with information about companies’ sustainability-related risks and opportunities to help them make informed decisions.

The IFRS Foundation through the ISSB, in 2022, has incorporated the Value Reporting Foundation, home to the SASB Standards. The IFRS foundations ISSB will develop on the SASB standards following its industry based approach.
